G’day from the team down under! Tyler Vanags is part of our Sales Team in our Melbourne, Australia office. She is a lover of dogs (like Ollie), coffee, and all things Eventbrite. Read on to learn more about her life in the Briteland!

How long have you been a Briteling?

2 Years (Joined 4th February 2017)

Give us the tl;dr on your role

I’m currently in a Hybrid role which is a combination of the BDR and SMB BDM functions in the Melbourne, AU office.

What has been your favorite project to work on at Eventbrite?

I’m currently in an experiment whereby my role is a Hybrid position and combination of the BDR/SMB BDM functions. Within this role, I’m able to gain exposure in closing deals and have certainly gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. Very fun and exciting times!

What were you doing before Eventbrite, and what inspired you to join the team?

Whilst I was at University, I completed the Disney International College Program in Florida, US and fell in love with America and the American culture. When I was ready to graduate, I was already thinking of how I could find a way to move back over. This is when I came across Eventbrite and it was love at first sight! From the very first interview, I knew that this particular company stood out in the crowd in so many different ways. The culture and working environment that has been developed and maintained here is something really special and I genuinely feel inspired to work for Eventbrite.

What’s your favorite part of your Briteland?

1. Our balcony. Even though it is currently under construction and not load bearing, this will be a great space for the Australian Britelings to work and make it happen.

2. The kitchen — where my second love, the coffee machine, lives.

Have you gotten to travel to any of the other Britelands? What was it like?

I was fortunate enough to travel to the Nashville Briteland in January 2018 for SKO and there are not enough words to describe how great the experience was. One of the things that really blew me away during this trip was the real Southern hospitality shown by the entire office. There is a such a positive and warm vibe in Nashville and it was super insightful connecting with my fellow American Business Development family to share ideas/strategies, (and many laughs and jokes about my accent). Big love to Nashville!

What advice do you have for future Britelings?

You MUST love dogs. This is important.

If you come out to visit the Australian team, we will make you eat Vegemite.

Your colleagues (both domestic and international) will be some of the best people you ever meet.

If you could switch roles for a week with anyone at the company, who would you choose?

Emily Syler. I’m not entirely sure what Em’s role is within the HR function but judging by her instagram, she’s having a great time and loving life at Eventbrite! (She also gets to work closely with Mags and Mer who are both #colleaguegoals).

What is your go-to karaoke song?

Teardrops — Womack and Womack

The Chain — Fleetwood Mac
